The 1st and 2nd XV both travelled to Ards for a double header pre-season match up.
The 1st XV ran out 43-29 winners in a free flowing physical game in blustery conditions. Scrum half Conor Allen just pipped fellow debutant Harry McMeekin for Man of the Match, both having outstanding games. Special mention also to Michael Baird and Jos McConkey who both had great games. On the adjacent pitch the 2nd XV were leading 21-5 at one stage but injury and call ups to the 1st XV disrupted them somewhat in the second half and they eventually succumbed to a late Ards revival to lose 36-33.
A useful warm up in advance of the competitive season starting next week when the 1st XV face Instonians 2nds in the Junior Cup. Unfortunately we picked up a few injuries and we wish those players a speedy recovery.
